Bowflex Treadclimber TC1000 Review

March 19, 2020

The Bowflex TreadClimber TC1000 is the entry level model from Bowflex and does come with much other than the core workout machine. Compared with the Bowflex Treadclimber TC5000, the TC1000 is pretty stripped down. The only readouts you get are speed, distance and time. No elevation counter or calories burned like on the higher end models.

It does still provide the patented unique workout method though if that’s all you’re looking for. If you know the Bowflex commercial then you already know what the draw is from this hybrid type cardio machine: Burn more calories with less work. It is true that independent studies have shown that the unique workout action of the treadclimber does burn more calories than a traditional treadmill, when it’s set at the same speed. The machine is able to do this by combining the training movements of a treadmill, an elliptical and a stairmaster. The unique movement gets your heart rate up in a hurry.

Keep in mind that the treadclimber workout can be tough for some people to get used to. Some customers have said that it took a while to get used to the bizarre foot movements.

The Bowflex Treadclimber TC1000 is really a stripped down machine. That also includes the warranty. 1 year on the motor, electronics, hydraulics and parts is one of the lowest around. So beware.

Before we get into more details let’s look at the TC1000’s core features:

The Skinny

The Bowflex TC1000 provides an intense workout and is compact enough to fit into limited space when compared to a traditional treadmill but even though it’s got almost no added features it’s still pretty expensive. This is for people who like the new approach to cardio and don’t need any of the bells and whistles.

Another thing to keep in mind is that contrary to what you may see on their infomercials, treadclimbers can be a bit noisy. There are a lot of moving parts on this machine and inevitably that causes sound.

Let’s dig a little deeper:

Fat burning design: The whole draw of the Treadclimber series is it’s unique approach to cardio workouts. The 3-way movements involved allow you to get your heart rate up quickly and keeps it there. This unique design is what allows you to burn more calories, quicker and without running.

The Bottom Line

If you like the unique approach to cardio (aka you don’t like running!) then the Bowflex Treadclimber TC1000 might be for you. Just keep in mind that you could spend the same amount on a traditional treadmill and get more added features. Treadclimbers are known for providing a tremendous workout and don’t take up much room. They are however quite heavy and don’t have a good warranty. 1 year on everything is suspiciously low.
